4 Types of Soil: Identify yours!

Soil are not same across the world. Each soil has mix of various levels of organic and Inorganic materials. As soil is the main source of food for the garden plants, a gardener must know about the soil type for better yield.

  1. Clay Soil – In wet condition, you can feel the stickiness in this type of soil. They are closely packed, so there is little space for water to drain and can hold maximum nutrients within it. But in summer, they will become dry and very hard.

  1. Sandy Soil – It will feel drier and grittier when you touch it. This soil has large sized particles in them. It’s loosely packed & can drain quicker even in spring season; so, the plants will get lesser time to absorb the nutrients in it.

  1. Silty Soil – It will feel much smoother when you touch this soil. They have smaller particles compared to sandy soil. So, it can retain water little longer than sandy soil; and it won’t warm-up easily.

  1. Loamy Soil – An ideal type of soil for gardening; as it is a mixture of all the above. You can improve this soil structure by mixing it with proper organic fertilizer. Earth’s Honey is the best organic fertilizer in Ontario region in Canada.
